 July 12, 2013

Prizes Include Casio Pro Trek PRG260-1 Timepiece and One-Year Subscription to Outside Magazine

DOVER, NJ, March 5, 2013 — June was National Great Outdoors Month and Casio jumpstarted its celebration by teaming up with Outside Magazine to offer consumers the chance to win the ultimate outdoor gear – Casio’s new Pro Trek PRG260-1 timepiece and a one-year subscription to Outside magazine. Outside magazine is an active lifestyle and adventure travel magazine written for enthusiasts of various outdoor activities such as running, skiing, camping, rock climbing and more. The magazine offers a variety of information on outdoor activities, gear, health and fitness, apparel and trends.

Throughout the month of June, consumers were encouraged to like Casio’s Pro Trek Facebook page to enter Casio and Outside magazine’s Great Outdoors Month Sweepstakes. Users could also find a link to the contest page on Outside magazine’s online website. Two winners, Bruce Key and David McKenzie were selected to receive a free one-year subscription to Outside Magazine. One lucky grand prize winner, Robert Penpek was selected at random, from all entries, to win a Casio PRG260-1 men’s watch.

“It was a natural fit to partner with Outside magazine for our Great Outdoors Sweepstakes,” said Shigenori Itoh, Chairman and CEO of Casio America, Inc. “Our audience loves the great outdoors and these prizes are ideal for any rugged adventure they take this summer.”

Equipped with Casio’s widely popular one-touch Triple Sensor technology, the PRG260-1 features three sensors, a pressure sensor for measuring barometric pressure and altitude, a thermo sensor for measuring temperature and a direction sensor for taking compass readings, making it the ideal timepiece for anything Mother Nature stirs up. The 200M water resistant timepiece combines a digital compass with a sporty duplex LCD display, ensuring even greater visibility when taking readings. The directional pointers float on the digital display, while the rotating bezel allows for aligning with a map. With Casio’s Tough Solar Power with a Power Saving function, the PRG260-1 powers down when not exposed to light for a certain period of time, thus conserving energy. To help maximize its solar rechargeable battery life, it can even judge ambient light conditions, to tell whether it should activate its Auto EL Backlight at the user’s flick of the wrist.

Intended for any vigorous and energetic outdoor activities like camping, cycling, fishing or hiking, the >PRG260-1 is outfitted with a black resin band designed for comfort and durability. The PRG260-1 includes a stainless steel rotating bezel, which allows users to switch their focus between time and compass measurements.
