CASIO EXPANDS THE WORLD OF DIGITAL PHOTO ART WITH NEW ONLINE SERVICE
Imaging Square Online Service Set to Make U.S. Debut in February 2011
LAS VEGAS, NV, January 5, 2011 ― Casio America, Inc. and its parent company, Casio Computer Co., Ltd., today announced the launch of Imaging Square (http://art.casio.com), an online service that will enable users to transform their prized photos into compelling pieces of art. The new service will go live in the United States in February 2011.
Casio’s new Imaging Square service is based on the theme “New Art for My Life.” In several of the company’s recently announced cameras, including the EX-ZR100 and TRYX®, Casio offers consumers new ways to enhance their creativity, specifically through its high dynamic range (HDR) technology. HDR is a unique shooting mode that will program the camera to take several shots with different exposures and instantly combine them into a single image with a high dynamic range. Casio has further enhanced its HDR technology with HDR-ART, an innovative new function which uses HDR technology to create beautifully artistic photographs. HDR-ART locally controls the contrast and the level of color saturation of the analyzed subject, and achieves the kind of awe-inspiring effects that used to be possible only using dedicated software, all with just one press of the shutter button. HDR-ART gives users the ability to create dramatic, eye-catching images that suit their artistic tastes and are sure to impress.
With Casio’s Imaging Square service, it’s bringing the fun and creativity of HDR-ART to the world so that everyone can enjoy their photos in a whole new way and create their own new collection of Digital Photo Art. Imaging Square will be a one-stop shop for freedom of expression through Digital Photo Art and will be compatible with images taken from any brand of digital camera or device. Anyone can use the online features of Imaging Square to produce creative works of digital art in a snap. Users simply upload their image and then take advantage of the editing options available through Imaging Squareto transform that image into their own work of art. Users’ Digital Photo Art can be saved on the Web site, shared with others or even sent as a greeting card.
Initially, Casio will offer the following services at Imaging Square, led by its powerful photo processing features:
- Digital Craft - convert photos into compelling artwork
HDR-ART Craft and Virtual Painter offer users a range of photo conversion options. HDR‑ART Craft produces artistic HDR art from a photo, while Virtual Painter uses Casio’s own art conversion algorithms to transform photos into Digital Photo Art. Users have 12 conversion options to choose from, including Oil Painting, Thick Oil Painting, Gothic Oil Painting, Fauvist Oil Painting, Water Color Painting, Gouache Painting, Pastel Painting, Color Pencil Sketch, Pointillism, Silkscreen, Drawing, and Air Brush.
- My Atelier -where you store photos and work on projects
- Gallery - where you publish your photos, view other people’s work, and enjoy interaction
Under the theme of “New Art for My Life,” Casio plans to keep expanding the services offered at Imaging Square. Casio envisions a world where Digital Photo Art enriches and fulfills people’s lives by offering them a whole new form of creative photographic expression.
