Love Sessions Lends a Political Voice to L.A. Fashion Week

DOVER, NJ, OCTOBER 15, 2008 - On Friday October 17th, Casio G-Shock will sponsor Love Sessions during L.A. Fashion Week, an occasion designed to utilize entertainment to ramp up voter registration amongst young Americans. The event will also serve as a soft launch for the venue, Versus Nightclub, a newly renovated super club in the heart of L.A.’s Fashion District. As the last stop for LA Fashion Week 2008, the evening will consist of a roster of legendary musicians and a unique runway show featuring brands such as; LRG Clothing JUZD Bamboo, Factory Girl Clothing, Grefphenreed and G-Shock watches.

“Casio G-Shock is proud to encourage voter registration and social responsibility through the Love Session’s event,” said Shigenori Itoh, Vice President of Casio’s Timepiece Division. “Our strong influence in fashion, music and art makes this the perfect opportunity to connect with young Americans.”

The star-studded evening will be headlined by ?uestlove and Travis McCoy, while Miami’s own DJ Irie (Jamie Foxx, Pepsi, Miami Heat) will join the stellar cast on the decks. The two headliners are best known for pioneering the fusion of live instrumentation to create a hip hop/ rock sound. ?uestlove is a famed, top tier producer who has worked with superstars such as Jay Z, D’Angelo and Al Green, to name a few. He is also the drummer for Philadelphia based hip hop super group The Roots, one of the most critically acclaimed acts in the genre’s history. Travis McCoy is the lead vocalist of the renowned band Gym Class Heroes (2007 MTV Best New Artist) who just released their 4th studio LP The Quilt.

This Love Session proves relevant to the democratic process, while simultaneously providing enthusiasts with world famous musicians and one of the most highly anticipated fashion shows at this year’s Fashion Week. Regarded as a major conduit for Election Day turnout among young California voters, this pioneering concept combines high-end fashion and top tier DJs with social consciousness. October 17th marks the last weekend that California residents can register to vote (October 20th is LAST day).
