G-SHOCK PROUDLY UNVEILS THE KING OF G-SHOCK

The Next Level in Shock Resistance and Ultimate Toughness

New York, NY, August 2, 2010 — Proudly crowning a new king, Casio America Inc. boldly debuts the G-Shock Ultimate Tough GX56. This latest edition to the G-Shock family seamlessly combines advanced technologies and the latest shock resistant construction. Majestic in size, the GX56 is the largest case design (55.5mm x 53.6mm x 17.5mm) in G-Shock history, nearly two times (2x) larger in volume than the classic DW5600.

Similar to its predecessors, the GX56 has a hollow case construction, all-directional covering and cushioning material around its critical operating parts. A new triple density, triple layer structure elevates the GX56 to a new level of shock resistance. Two layers of hard urethane just below the case protect against external shocks. Ever-resilient Alpha GEL®, a inner third layer of soft urethane that expands and contracts as pressure is applied, has been implanted beneath the face at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock to absorb impact on the inside. For added protection, lug screws securely fasten the band to case and the buckle to band to minimize the chance of detachment when the watch is dropped. In addition to unmatched shock resistance, the GX56 features advanced Self-Charging, Tough Solar Power technology for unwavering reliability.

Self-Charging, Tough Solar Power - A tiny, solar panel combined with a large-capacity rechargeable battery enables a variety of energy-hungry functions to operate smoothly. The result is an impressive solar timepiece that assures reliable timekeeping and greatly reduces the need for battery change.

“G-Shock is thrilled to offer this new level of shock resistance and technically advanced features in a lightweight functional timepiece,” said Shigenori Itoh, Vice President of Casio’s Timepiece Division. “With its fashion-forward large case, the Ultimate Tough GX56 truly continues the G-Shock Tradition of Toughness and Technology.”

Additional GX56 features include: Mud Resistance, Auto EL Backlight, World Time (31TZ/48 City + UTC), 4 Daily Alarms and 1 Snooze Alarm, Hourly Time Signal, 1/100th Sec. Stopwatch, Countdown Timer, 12/24 Hr. Formats, and Mineral Glass face for increased scratch resistance.

Available in heritage black (GX56-1A) and hazard orange (GX56-4) for $150 at select Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Tourneau and other fashion boutiques and www.gshock.com.
