“G-Shock is pleased to collaborate with such a recognized artist as Mister Cartoon,” said Shigenori Itoh, Vice President of Casio’s Timepiece Division. “With the release of the DW6900MRC-8, we are offering a unique fusion of timekeeping technology with an aesthetic appeal to street culture.”

This collaboration with the LA native is true to Los Angeles culture, the watch utilizes a Dodger blue and grey and a case back engraved with Cartoon’s epic styling.

Earlier this year G-Shock unveiled a “first look” at the collaboration watch with the world famous tattoo artist, car customizer, illustrator and designer at the Shock the World Tour 2009 event in NYC.  Now, G-Shock is bringing the launch of this watch back to the stomping grounds of its inspiration – Los Angeles.

“I chose to collaborate with G-Shock because I have seen the evolution and quality of the watch evolve into an iconic brand,” said Mister Cartoon.  “Now I am excited to celebrate this relationship and launch this amazing collaboration piece to the LA market.”

Steeped in the colorful cultural backdrop of downtown L.A., the evening will mark the West Coast premier of the intricately designed G-Shock X Mister Cartoon (DW6900MRC-8) collaboration, provide the opportunity to interview Mister Cartoon in a one on one setting and grant an insider glimpse into his personal creative process and workspace.

A complete evening with eclectic ambiance, flowing drinks and great food combined with a crowd-moving DJ, this celebratory event will also include an exclusive unveiling of a one of a kind, hand painted G-Shock by Mister Cartoon. This invaluable work of art will be donated to the Juxtapoz Art and Culture Magazine 15 Year Anniversary Event on November 14th, 2009.

Casio G-Shock proudly supports The Juxtapoz Art and Culture Magazine 15 Year Anniversary Event as the exclusive timepiece sponsor. This milestone event will feature “The Big Payback,” an online charity art auction and a special event in Los Angeles hosted by Upper Playground.

Benefiting the non-profit Power House Project of Detroit, it will feature over 100 internationally renowned contemporary artists including: Matthew Barney, Banksy, Ed Templeton, vCR Stecyk III, Shepard Fairey, Robert Williams, Todd Schorr, Estevan Oriol, Doze Green, Todd “Reas” James, Thomas Campbell, Tim Biskup, KR, Mister Cartoon, Big Daddy Roth, WK Interact, Clayton Brothers, Andrew Schoultz, James Jean, Ron English, Swoon, Craola, David Choe, Mike Giant, Paul Insect, Jeremy Fish, Alex Pardee, Saber, David Ellis, Boogie, D*Face, Cody Hudson, Herbert Baglione, as well as the display of the one of a kind G-Shock designed by participating artist Mister Cartoon.
