FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CASIO RELEASES IPAD APP THAT RECREATES ITS POPULAR CZ SERIES OF CLASSIC SYNTHESIZERS

CZ App for iPad is Now Available for Download

ANAHEIM, CA, January 22, 2015– Today, Casio America, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of the CZ App, a virtual synthesizer application based on Casio’s best-selling CZ series of synthesizers which includes the popular CZ-101 model released in 1984. Designed specifically for the iPad, the CZ App is now available to download from the Apple App Store. The CZ App will also be on display in Casio’s booth (#B5900) during Winter NAMM at the Anaheim Convention Center, January 22-25, 2015.

“Casio is known for its rich history in the electronic musical instrument industry and we want to continue to raise the bar by bringing the joy of playing music to other forms of technology, including mobile devices,” said Stephen Schmidt, Vice President of Casio’s Electronic Musical Instruments Division. “With the CZ App, musicians can re-create the classic sounds of Casio’s CZ synthesizers on the go in a user-friendly interface.”

The CZ App for iPad allows users to play a wide range of sounds based on eight basic waveforms and 28 combinations for a total of 36 types of waveforms. The CZ App also features two digitally controlled oscillators, two digitally controlled waveform envelopes, and two digitally controlled amplitude envelopes. In each of these six blocks of parameters, users can make subtle changes to the sounds by setting temporal variations to pitch, timbre, and volume. Furthermore, users can visually check these variations using the iPad screen while the sounds are being generated.

In addition, Casio’s CZ App features a range of functionality and connectivity options. It includes simultaneous playback of audio files stored on an iPad so users can play along to their favorite songs using the sounds produced by the CZ App. The app also includes a Multi-Play mode that allows two players to perform on a single iPad. Up to four virtual keyboards can be displayed on the screen, each assigned to one of the four parts generated by the original Phase Distortion sound source by Casio. Finally, music produced on the CZ App can be played using external MIDI-compatible musical instruments, such as Casio’s electronic keyboards, digital pianos and synthesizers. The CZ App is also compatible with Inter-App Audio and Audiobus.

The CZ App joins Casio’s roster of musical apps which already includes Chordana Viewer, Chordana Tap, and Musical Practice Tool. For additional information on Casio’s CZ app or full portfolio of electronic musical instruments, please visit www.CasioMusicGear.com.
