New Calculator Technologies on Display
At both NCSM and NCTM, Casio’s popular PRIZM™ line will be the highlight of its demonstrations. The PRIZM portfolio is revolutionary among graphing calculators and has expanded just in time to showcase new technologies for education professionals attending these conferences. The first new model is the fx-CG500 (PRIZM CAS) which is a next-generation graphing calculator and features an advanced Computer Algebra System (CAS). Designed for middle school math classes and beyond, the fx-CG500 will help students to investigate and solve the most challenging equations and enhance their understanding of mathematics. It also comes complete with a high-resolution, color, touchscreen LCD and features a Natural Textbook display, as well as various functions designed to assist with mathematic lessons. Additionally, the fx-CG500 is also permitted for use on the AP, SAT I and II, PSAT and NMSQT exams.

The company also introduced the fx-CG50 (PRIZM), which offers expanded features including the ability to easily draw 3D graphs such as planes, cylinders and spheres, and view them from various angles in order to better analyze their shape. A cross-section option and a special zoom function enable the student to further examine the graph for even greater analysis. The fx-CG50 is also jam-packed with features that enable students to solve the most challenging equations and enhance their understanding of mathematics. In particular, the Picture Plot function enables users to plot graphs over pictures of real-life scenes and offers a color LCD with a full textbook-style display.
