Revived design with a new, upgraded backlight: DW-6640RE

This model is based on the DW-6600, a digital watch that debuted in 1994 with a distinctive graphic display featuring the first electroluminescent (EL) backlight in a G-SHOCK. The new watch maintains the original model’s round case design and front button, while including an updated Super Illuminator light. When activated, the 40th anniversary logo appears. Battery life has also been extended from three to five years.

Band memorialising the historical evolution of G-SHOCK

Milestones marked by the G-SHOCK brand in its historical evolution since the very first model hit the scene in 1983 are expressed in the band design. Inspired by stone monuments that stand the test of time, iconic models from G-SHOCK history are imprinted in the band along with their launch years using a hot-stamping process that impresses the lettering into the band with a textural, indented effect.

Bio-based resins

The bezel and band are made with bio-based resins produced using renewable organic resources such as castor oil plants and corn, helping to reduce the ecological footprint of this watch.

Special packaging: Eco-consciousness embodied

Made with recycled materials, the specially designed eco-friendly packaging is shaped like the G in G-SHOCK. Recycled paper and vegetable ink is used for the outer box. The DWE-5657RE, which comes with an interchangeable bezel, features a special box made with a pulp material called bagasse (sugar cane fibre), a material used as a substitute for wood, and is printed with vegetable ink.
