C. Legal requirements
The legal requirements arise from the Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG), in particular from Art. 3, 14 BFSG and Annex 3 to the BFSG, with reference to the Ordinance on the Accessibility Improvement Act (Verordnung zum Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz - BFSGV). According to these regulations, services must be findable, accessible and usable for people with disabilities in the customary manner, without particular difficulty and, in principle, without external assistance. This means:
- Information on the accessibility of the service must be provided, and identification, authentication, security, and payment functions must be accessible (Art. 19 BFSGV).
- For visual modes of operation, a mode of operation must be established that enables use for those with no or limited vision and does not require colour differentiation.
- For auditory modes of operation, a mode of operation must be established that enables use for those with no or limited hearing.
- For modes of operation using voice input, a mode of operation must be established that does not require voice input.
- For manual modes of operation, a mode of operation must be established that does not require fine motor control or operation, and the control elements must be within the user's reach.
- Modes of operation that trigger photosensitive seizures are to be avoided.
- A mode of operation must be established that includes functions to facilitate and simplify use for those with cognitive impairments.
- The privacy of users must be protected when using accessibility features.
D. Status of conformance with the requirements of the BFSG
Our online shop is in the process of being designed to be accessible in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.2 at Level AA, ensuring our services are accessible to everyone.
The content of our website can be perceived through various modes of operation, ensuring that our products and services can also be perceived and used by users with physical, sensory, or cognitive impairments. The modes of operation we have implemented include:
- Multiple sensory channels: We provide text alternatives for non-textual content (e.g., images or videos). We offer videos with subtitles and, where possible, with audio descriptions.
- Structured code: Forms, tables, and lists use correct semantic markup (e.g., roles, labels, and logical order) so that they can be correctly interpreted by assistive technologies such as screen readers.
- Responsive design: The website can be read on multiple devices, when zoomed to 200%, and in both portrait and landscape orientation.
- Colours and contrasts: Text and graphical elements have sufficient contrast and are understandable even in greyscale.
- Keyboard operability: All content and functions (including menus and pop-ups) are fully accessible via the keyboard.
- Avoidance of stimuli: Visual effects that could trigger photosensitive seizures (e.g., strongly flashing elements) are deliberately avoided.
- Skippable elements: Recurring navigational elements can be bypassed with skip links to get to the main content more quickly.
- Multiple interaction methods: Our website can be used without fine motor skills or offers alternatives for more complex gestures and buttons. Additionally, multiple paths to content are provided through navigation and search.
- Visible focus: Interactive elements (e.g., links, buttons, form fields) have a clearly visible focus indicator during keyboard navigation.
- Consistent design: Navigation, content elements, and operational logic are implemented uniformly across all pages to ensure ease of orientation and use.
Furthermore, we ensure that our identification, authentication, security, and payment functions are designed to be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users. To this end, we have implemented the following measures:
- Feedback on input (e.g. success or error) is conveyed by at least two different characteristics – for instance, through colour changes and symbols or text.
- All required form fields are equipped with the "autocomplete" attribute to enable automatic filling by the browser, thereby simplifying use.
- In the event of incorrect entries, we display clear and unambiguous error messages.
