G-SHOCK launches the lightweight GBD-H2000 — A tough companion for multiple sports

Equipped with Polar™ algorithms for training analysis

Norderstedt, 28 February 2023 — G-SHOCK launches the newest member of the sporty G-SQUAD line. The GBD-H2000 supports multiple sports activities and is even lighter for more comfortable wearing. The new watch will be available in four colour variants.

The robust GBD-H2000 is equipped with GPS functionality and six sensors to support a wide range of sporting activities, yet is 38% lighter than the GBD-H1000 predecessor model. G-SHOCK has achieved the lighter weight by developing a more compact case with integrated GPS and a carbon-fibre-reinforced case back. The result is an even more comfortable fit on the wrist. The new watch is equipped with GPS functionality and an optical sensor for measuring heart rate, as well as a compass, altitude/air pressure sensor, thermometer, accelerometer and gyroscope (rotational movements). These high-end technologies allow you to measure distance, speed, pace and more to support activities like running, cycling and swimming.

In addition to these activity measurements, training analysis functions are also included. The algorithms have developed by Polar Electro Oy, an industry pioneer that has been perfecting the art of personalized advice in fitness, sports and health for nearly 50 years. The algorithms are used to measure the load on the heart and lungs, analyse the ratio of energy consumed separately for carbohydrates, proteins and fats, and monitor sleep. Pairing the watch with the dedicated CASIO WATCHES app allows users to view the watch's workout data in more detail and access activity logs, tips to improve sleep and more. Miniaturized solar cells* even use artificial light for power and guarantee time display even when the battery is dead.

  • Supports multiple sports

The watch supports eight different activities: Running, cycling, open water swimming, pool swimming, walking, trail running, gym workouts and interval training. The watch is equipped with GPS functionality and an optical sensor that can measure heart rate, as well as a compass, altitude/air pressure sensor, thermometer, accelerometer and gyroscope (rotational movements). Depending on the activity chosen, these high-end technologies allow you to measure heart rate, distance and speed, as well as record swimming style, number of lengths/laps and more.

  • Lighter weight

The GBD-H2000 is 38% lighter than its predecessor the GBD-H1000, due to the more compact case with integrated GPS antenna and carbon-fibre-reinforced case back. This design also provides an even more comfortable fit that does not hinder arm movement.

  • Polar™ algorithms for training analysis

Fitness level and cardio load

Evaluates fitness level based on maximum oxygen uptake (VO2 max) during running, measures cardiac and pulmonary workload as a function of exercise duration and intensity, and provides a variety of other data.

  • Energy used

Calculates carbohydrates, proteins and fats as a percentage of calories burned. Useful for determining energy intake during training periods and training intensity to achieve your goals.

  • Sleep recovery level

Records sleep to assess how well the user is recovering mentally and physically overnight from workouts and other demands of the day. The CASIO WATCHES app provides detailed information and advice, including sleep stage charts and tips for the day.

  • Solar-assisted charging

Use USB charging for workout features like GPS tracking and heart rate monitor, as well as smart features like notifications and step tracker. The time display is powered exclusively by solar energy, even when the battery is empty.*

  • Use of biomass plastics

The bezel, case and strap are made of biomass plastic produced from castor seeds and corn. Biomass plastics produced from renewable resources are intended to help promote the transition to a circular economy and reduce CO2 emissions.

The BD-H2000 has the following features, among others:

  • USB charging + solar-assisted charging

  • Heart rate measurement

  • Accelerometer

  • Activity tracking

  • Monitoring mode

  • Training log

  • Training and sleep analysis

  • Step tracker

  • Blood oxygen level measurement

  • Gyroscope (rotational movements)

About G-SHOCK

G-SHOCK was born from the idea and desire to create an indestructible watch. CASIO's engineers followed the "Triple 10" concept, which included making sure the watch could survive a 10-meter drop, withstand 10 bars of water pressure, and last 10 years on a single battery. Since its launch in 1983, G-SHOCK has stuck to this concept and continued to perfect the G-SHOCK models through development. The cult brand made a name for itself worldwide in the fields of fashion, sports and music. As a testament to this success, G-SHOCK is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
