G-SHOCK launches first MRG in FROGMAN design

Diver's favourite — ISO 6425-certified

Norderstedt, 15 March 2023 — G-SHOCK launches the latest model of the MR-G series: The first MRG based on the legendary FROGMAN in titanium. With the new MRG-BF1000R-1ADR, the characteristic asymmetrical design and functionality of the FROGMAN has been adopted and combined with the unmistakable value and special functionality of the MRG.

The G-SHOCK "Frogman MRG-BF1000R" watch deep under water

The tough diving watches of the FROGMAN series are certified as per ISO 6425, water-resistant up to 200 m and feature an asymmetrical design where the case is slightly shifted to the left to ensure unrestricted wrist movement underwater — a popular feature that has made the FROGMAN an iconic model of the G-SHOCK brand.

The new MRG-BF1000R-1ADR comes in a titanium design. To recreate the originally resin-cast mould in titanium, the case is divided into multiple components that are individually polished before assembly to bring out the impressive textures in minute detail. In the case alone, more than 70 individual parts have been joined together in such a way that prevents any water from penetrating inside.

To reinforce shock resistance, newly developed titanium shock absorbers were used for the external components around the case, which adapt to the shape of the case, but also withstand any rugged use. This helps to absorb shock and protect the sapphire crystal.

Sapphire crystal has been additionally pressed into the screwed case back made of pure titanium, ensuring a high-density structure and maintaining the sensitivity of the built-in antenna for radio wave reception. The sapphire crystal is particularly scratch-resistant, which is a great advantage that allows the watch to be worn over a diving suit. In addition, the glass is particularly eye-catching and is anti-reflective.

Of course, the watch possesses the full functionality of a typical G-SHOCK: The hour and minute hands rotate together in dive mode, indicating time spent underwater in an intuitive and easy-to-read manner. Three dual coil motors allow for quick operation of the hands to quickly switch between displaying the current time and the elapsed dive time. The low and high tide times can be found on the 3 o'clock display. In conjunction with the dedicated CASIO WATCHES smartphone app, users can record their diving activities, including dive times and locations, and easily access tide charts for approximately 3300 locations around the world. Even before the trip, the local low and high tide times can be accessed for ease for planning dive times. Thanks to the app, the watch always shows the exact time, no matter where you are in the world. The very bright illuminator makes it possible to read the watch even in the dark.

About G-SHOCK

G-SHOCK was born from the idea and desire to create an indestructible watch. CASIO's engineers followed the "Triple 10" concept, which included making sure the watch could survive a 10-meter drop, withstand 10 bars of water pressure, and last 10 years on a single battery. Since its launch in 1983, G-SHOCK has stuck to this concept and continued to perfect the G-SHOCK models through development. The cult brand made a name for itself worldwide in the fields of fashion, sports and music. As a testament to this success, G-SHOCK is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
