"Women in science" designer case

Brooke Emmett
Topic: Women in science
Question 1: Tell us a bit about yourself
B. Emmett: I'm a designer and illustrator who is passionate about working on projects that positively portray women in career fields that are stereotypically male-dominated.
Question 2: What did you focus on or draw inspiration from when you created this design for CASIO? (Tell us a bit about your artistic process).
B. Emmett: In designing this case, I was inspired not only by space, but also by the extremely intense process, calculations and dedication that women like Margaret Hamilton put into getting the first humans to the moon.

Question 3: Through this campaign, CASIO seeks to inspire students' understanding of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics, as well as their passion for these subjects.
Knowing that thousands of students will see your artwork, is there a particular story (personal or otherwise) that you want to share with them?
Is there a STEM topic that you yourself are passionate about? (STEM = science, technology, engineering and mathematics, also known as MINT in German.)
B. Emmett: Even as a child, I noticed that girls and women were not really associated with scientific professions or discoveries. I had been taught that man was on the moon, but I didn't know that women were behind the scenes playing a leading and instrumental role in the safe journey into space. With the changing times, it's so refreshing to see inspired young kids wanting to be leaders in STEM careers and having access to the education that will lead them there.
