CASIO is a special supporter of the IPhO2023

CASIO supports the events taking place as part of the International
Physics Olympiad 2023 in Japan

What is the International Physics Olympiad?
The International Physics Olympiad is an international physics contest for high school students. The first competition was held in Warsaw, Poland, in 1967. Each country carefully selects up to five competitors to participate as representatives of that country. The aim of the competition is to stimulate interest in physics and to promote skills in this field. At the same time, the competition serves as a venue for participating countries to engage in an international exchange about physics education. This enables them to further develop their own programs. Japan is the host country of the 53rd Olympiad, which will be held in Tokyo in 2023. Around 90 countries are expected to participate.

Message for participants of IPhO2023
Welcome to Japan!
Casio Computer Co., Ltd. was established in 1957. Since the invention of the 14-A, the world's first compact all-electric calculator, we have expanded our businesses based on our philosophy of "creativity and contribution" —
including the development of timepieces, educational programs, electronic musical instruments and much more.
Based on miniaturization and power-saving technologies, toughness, and calculators, we have created products that are familiar to everyone —
such as the G-SHOCK, a wristwatch that can be used in a variety of ways, as well as scientific calculators and learning tools that support a variety of teaching styles.
Our goal is to contribute to society by providing products with new value and creating a new culture. In the education sector, for example, we support teachers and students around the world
to use scientific calculators, develop their thinking skills, and help students realise their dreams for the future.
We sincerely hope your success in this competition, which is one of the dream stages for everyone. When you come to Japan,
please do your best in the competition and at the same time take the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture and technology. We think there are many things that will boost your curiosity. See you in Tokyo in July!
Casio’s scientific calculator “fx-82CW” will be used in the competition of IPhO2023

Educational statement "Boost your curiosity — Curiosity as a prerequisite for learning" by CASIO
Support learning and boost your curiosity towards learning
The origin of learning is curiosity. From curiosity comes interest.
We believe that these are important factors to enrich your life.
Curiosity makes you want to learn more.
By taking action to learn, reaching a conclusion, learning something new and using that knowledge, new curiosity is formed.
We believe this “chain of curiosity” is what makes learning enjoyable.
However, it can be difficult to keep the chain going on your own.
We are aiming for a world where anyone can find learning enjoyable by boosting the source of learning: curiosity.
History of CASIO's Education Business
At CASIO, we want to contribute to society by developing products that the world has not yet seen. In doing so, we act in line with our company motto "Creativity and Contribution".
We apply this same thinking to our education business, where we have been supporting people's learning through digitising things universal, such as numbers and words.

CASIO and the Place of Learning
CASIO defines the relation between us and those who are involved in education as “place of learning”.

When it comes to learning, CASIO always puts itself in your shoes, whether you're learning now or in the future. We sell products that are based on unique technology, developed with a strong sense of purpose and original ideas.
We will connect all those who are involved in education by developing products and services that stimulate the place of learning.
International Physics Olympiad 2023 report

Thank you to all the participants for coming to Japan!
The International Physics Olympiad 2023 was held in Tokyo from 10th July to 17th July 2023. Many students who excelled in physics from more than 80 countries participated in the event and it was a great success. Casio provided the scientific calculator fx-82CW used in the exam, and exhibited at the "Scientific Experience Corner" where participants could experience the technology of Japanese companies.
Physics Exams

Support the participants who challenge difficult questions with a scientific calculator!
A scientific calculator is an important tool for solving difficult physics problems. All equipment that participants bring to the exam will be provided at the venue. Casio's fx-82CW scientific calculator was also distributed, and the participants challenged the test with the fx-82CW.
Scientific Experience Corner

Many participants enjoyed the technology of calculators, musical instruments and watches.
Under the theme of "Brighten Your Summer with Curiosity", we exhibited Casio's technology that stimulates your curiosity. We will report on how it went!

Historical calculator corner
We exhibited products from the 1960s, the dawn of calculators, as well as the fx-7000G, the world's first graphing scientific calculator. Everyone took pleasure in seeing the historical calculator that still worked and can be touched.

Regional scientific calculators & colour graph scientific calculator experience corner
We exhibited region-specific models that correspond to the language and curriculum of each country and the colour graph scientific calculator CG50. The CG50, which is equipped with the "Python" programming language, is very popular.

Turns piano playing into pictures!
Music Tapestry
Music Tapestry is a technology that creates pictures out of musical performances. Beautiful pictures were created by the graceful performance of the participants.

Experience toughness of G-SHOCK
Accelerated Drop Impact Test
Drop the shock-resistant watch G-SHOCK onto the ground and experience its toughness. Participants cannot hide their amazement at the watch that continues to work even after being slammed into the ground.
