Features and usage
Functions and settings
There is some accompaniment which generates weird sounds when I transpose it.
Some accompaniment utilizes the Versatile Tones . The Transpose is a function which shifts a note chromatically and the Versatile Tone is a tone which allocates each sound effect tone to different notes. So, when you transpose an accompaniment, a sound effect tone of the Versatile tone is replaced with some other sound effect tone. As a result, the tone could be heard as a noise. You could avoid this by transposing higher instead of transposing lower. For instance, when you transpose C key to A key, transpose it 9 semitones higher instead of 3 semitones lower.
What is the Versatile Tones?
Versatile Tones are tones whose names are starting with "VERSATILE" or "Vst". Versatile Tones are for creating computer music, not for playing. Versatile Tones assign performance sounds that are characteristic of a particular musical instrument (such as a guitar glissando, fret noise, etc.) to each keyboard key (note) and velocity. For information about the sounds assigned for each versatile tone and velocity, see "Versatile Tone Map".
Can I keep using my keyboard with the APO function disabled?
Yes, but even in that case, turn off your keyboard once a day. There is a case that the tone data of your keyboard is damaged if you keep it playing without power off sequence for certain long terms. So, you are recommended to enable the APO function or turn off the instrument regularly with the power off button when you disable the function.
I am using composition software by connecting PC and the instrument. I want to make no sound from the instrument.
By turning off the local control function, it is possible to separate the keyboard and sound source of the instrument, and sound is not produced from the instrument. Please refer to the user's manual of each model for the operation method. You can download user's manual by the following URL: https://world.casio.com/manual/emi/
Nothing happens or sound volume is getting lower or higher when I press some keyboard keys.
While Versatile Tone is selected, sound volume and timbre assigned to keyboard keys change depending on velocity. This causes no sound, or lower or higher sound when you press some keyboard keys. - Versatile Tones are for creating computer music, not for playing. - Versatile Tones are tones whose names are starting with "VERSATILE" or "Vst". There are some keys to which no sound is assigned when a tone in a drum set category is selected.
What is the purpose of OCTAVE SHIFT?
OCTAVE SHIFT allows you to shift the octave of a pitch to higher or lower. This is useful to make it more comfortable to play on your keyboard and enables you to play the base tone which is not originally on the keyboard (For example, if you set it one octave lower, you can play a note one octave lower than the lowest note of keyboard).
