How to choose the perfect waterproof CASIO watch

A man is holding his wrist underwater and is wearing a water resistant CASIO watch

Many waterproof watches state the level of waterproofing on their product page, e.g. ‘Waterproof for everyday use’ or ‘20 bar waterproofing’. But what does that mean exactly? How waterproof are these watches really? And which level of waterproofing is suitable for which situation?

It is important to know the different levels of water resistance in order to choose the right type of watch. In this article, we explain the basics of water resistance in our CASIO watches. We also show you how to choose the right watch for different occasions. Whether you go diving, do water sports or are looking for a watch for everyday use, this guide will help you find the best waterproof watch for you.

1. How waterproof do you need your watch to be?

How to choose the best waterproof CASIO that fits your needs best

Not all waterproof watches are the same. Whether you're in a shallow swimming pool, in the shower, washing up or walking in the rain, water can get inside your watch anywhere. But of course, it's especially a problem when diving or swimming in deep water, when your watch is exposed to high water pressure.

In addition to the water resistance of the watch itself, the materials of the strap and case also tolerate moisture to varying degrees.

That's why it's important that you know the water resistance of your watch and only wear it in suitable situations.

What does ‘water resistant’ mean?

Waterproof watches are resistant to water to a certain degree. There are different designations to help you assess the extent of the waterproofing. These so-called degrees of water resistance indicate how much water a watch can tolerate and what the maximum water pressure should be to avoid damage.

The degree of water resistance indicates how well a watch can withstand water pressure. The resistance to these influences is indicated in the value ‘bar’. This value is usually indicated on the dial or the back of the watch.
