Casio Educational Activities in Egypt and Mexico Selected as MEXT 2026 EDU-Port Japan Supported Projects

Tokyo, July 21, 2026 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today that its mathematics education activities in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Mexican States have been selected for participation in the MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, CULTURE, SPORTS, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY -JAPAN- 2026 EDU-Port Japan (Introduction of Japanese-style Education Using the Public-Private Collaborative Platform) Supported Project. This marks Egypt’s third consecutive selection, following their selection last year, and Mexico’s first.

EDU-Port Japan Supported Project is a public-private initiative to introduce Japanese-style education overseas. To promote the use of scientific calculators in schools around the world and contribute to the advancement of education, Casio conducts ongoing GAKUHAN activities, including teacher training and the development of educational materials. Casio GAKUHAN activities in both countries were recognized on this occasion.

■ Key Initiatives in Egypt
Since its first-term selection in December 2023, Casio has collaborated in Egypt with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MOETE) and Egypt-Japan Schools (EJSs) to support the introduction of inquiry-based lessons using scientific calculators. Specifically, Casio has regularly conducted training for mathematics teachers to encourage students to learn proactively and strengthen their mathematical thinking. In public schools in particular, approximately 100 trainers delivered guidance over the past year, reaching a cumulative total of more than 5,200 teachers.

In this third term as well, Casio draws on the teacher-training scheme built through the EDU-Port Japan Supported Project to support the practice and lasting adoption of inquiry-based lessons using scientific calculators.

■ Key Initiatives in Mexico
In Mexico, Casio is launching GAKUHAN activities to enhance the skills of mathematics teachers. Under this project, Casio conducts two types of training: one to support lesson design aligned with the local curriculum using scientific calculators, and another to build teachers’ proficiency in using scientific calculators in the classroom. The program incorporates hands-on learning through methods common to teacher training in Japan, such as mock lessons and lesson-plan preparation.

Casio also plans to introduce a system that applies customer relationship management (CRM) to evaluate the effectiveness of training and to provide support tailored to each teacher’s level of proficiency with scientific calculators, thereby continuing to support the improvement of teaching skills even after the training has ended. The results of this initiative will also be applied to future rollouts in other countries.

EDU-Port Japan Supported Project is a “public-private, nationwide” initiative to proactively introduce Japanese-style education overseas by providing a platform on which the public and private sectors collaborate in achieving this objective. Since fiscal 2016, its principal activities have included operating a platform that brings together the public and private sectors, local governments, educational institutions, companies, and NPOs; fostering an environment that encourages the formation of new projects; and nurturing projects for overseas rollout — thereby building momentum for taking Japan’s attractive education overseas.
