235 sheets of layered and machined carbon and glass fibre form the bezel frame at the sides of the watch. These lightweight materials deliver a bezel frame about 77% lighter than one made of stainless steel. The top-layer carbon sheet is wrapped around the sides at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o’clock positions to provide further strength, and cylindrical carbon sheets are wrapped around the lugs to enhance durability as well. Together with the brand-new polygonal crown design, the watch profile presents a look of strength and beauty.
State-of-the-art pressing and cutting processes are leveraged to achieve a bezel with a complex form, laminated with multiple layers of carbon fibre sheets and glass fibre. The watch exterior is adorned with the distinctive weave of the carbon fibre across the top surface and a newly developed green-and-black laminated pattern along the sides.
In combination with its componentry made of fine resin, the metal band presents both a profound impression and a great fit. Weight reduction was achieved using hollow metal components crafted with metal injection moulding (MIM) as well. A double slide lever structure also makes it easy to attach and remove the band.
Distinguished finish brings out the lustre of the metal
Meticulously detailed finishes are applied, including Sallaz polishing for creating mirror surfaces with high degrees of smoothness in metal components’ bevelled surfaces.
Dual Core Guard structure combines carbon and metal
We integrated the original MT-G Metal Core Guard structure with the latest G-SHOCK Carbon Core Guard. A monocoque case of carbon fibre-reinforced resin is placed inside a metal frame that connects with the bezel — achieving high strength, airtightness and weight reduction all at once.
