CASIO is advancing the use of PCR plastic (Post-Consumer Recycled plastic) in calculator main bodies.

About PCR plastic

PCR plastic is recycled plastic made from plastic products that consumers have used and disposed of. Using PCR plastic helps reduce waste and virgin plastic usage, thereby reducing the environmental impact of plastic use.

Recycling Flow

New products are created using material that has been sorted → cleaned → crushed → property-enhanced → pelletized from used consumer products (home appliances, electronic devices, etc.) collected from the market.

For black models, PC monitors are mainly used as source materials, while air conditioners and other home appliances are mainly used for white and colored models.
The percentage of recycled materials refers to the percentage of recycled materials used in total weight of plastic materials.
The collected products are manufactured according to strict quality standards, and there are no safety concerns with the recycled plastic.

GRS certified Plastic (GRS：Global Recycled Standard)

The recycled materials used in some of our calculator models have received GRS certification as recycled materials that conform to this international standard.
GRS certification is an international, independent standard for the purpose of tracking and verifying the presence of recycled components included in products and other materials throughout a supply chain in its entirety. This certification includes primarily the following verifications:
• Verification that the recycled components that are included in products and materials are not mixed with any non-certified materials
• Inspection of traceability and the state of storage of the components on-site
• Local inspection of the state of management and administration of the company applying for certification in terms of societal and environmental requirements
• Verification of the selection and adoption of appropriate chemical substances and the state of their management

Note: The recycling rate indicated on the materials certificate is the recycling rate of the plastic resin itself. This differs from the recycling rate indicated by “percentage of recycled materials in main body plastic.”
