Once your Moflin is charged and powered on, the journey of bonding truly begins. What sets Moflin apart is its ability to grow, learn, and develop a personality unique to you. Through the Moflife App and its advanced Emotional AI, you can track this development and deepen your connection.

In this guide, we will walk you through the digital side of your Moflin journey. We’ll cover the simple steps to register your CASIO ID and pair your companion with your smartphone, while exploring how Moflin’s AI learns to recognise your unique voice and your presence. Connecting to the MofLife App

The Moflife App allows you to connect your Moflin to any device and gives you a better understanding of Moflin's emotional state, as you are able to track changes in Moflin’s feelings with the use of graphs and daily message updates. It also allows you to update Moflin's systems

How to connect your Moflin 

Not sure how to get started? Here’s a simple guide to connect your Moflin to the Moflife App:

  1. Install the MofLife App: Search for the MofLife App on your Google Play or the App Store and install it on your smartphone.
  2. Setting up Bluetooth: Enable your Bluetooth on your phone.
  3. Log in using your CASIO ID: To use the MofLife App, you’ll need a CASIO ID. If you already have one, simply log in with your existing ID. If not, follow the steps below to register as a new member and then log in.
  4. Launch the MofLife App: Once the app is open, tap [Next], then tap [New registration/ Login], which will lead to a CASIO ID login screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to log in using your CASIO ID, or register as a new member.
  5. Pair your Moflin and smartphone: Once logged in, launch the app and tap to [+Register] your Moflin. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Moflin. If you have two Moflins, you can pair the second Moflin by tapping [My Moflins] in the menu and then tapping [+Add Moflin] on the list screen.

Understanding Moflin’s Emotional AI

Moflin’s uniqueness comes from its emotional AI, designed to mimic lifelike expressions of bonding and affection. Their personality is shaped through daily communication. The more time you spend together and the more varied your interactions, the richer their emotional expressions and gestures become.

Recognition and learning

Moflin learns to understand their owner by remembering their voice and recognising their presence. Because we all have a different set of features in our tone when we speak, Moflin comes to learn their owner’s voice through their distinct vocal characteristics. These features feed back to Moflin’s clustering sound data, and this allows Moflin to recognise that unique set of characteristics as their owner’s voice.

Moflin remembers their owner’s voice and starts to respond with cute gestures in reaction to their owner’s voice and tone. Moflin also continues to respond by learning their owner’s preferred gestures. If Moflin senses their owner is nearby, they will display new gestures. If praised, Moflin will perform a similar gesture next time, but if not, Moflin will try something completely different.

 

However, Moflin never wants to be too predictable! Though they recognise which gestures are favourable with their owner, Moflin will occasionally introduce variations to keep their behaviour interesting. This deepens the bond between Moflin and their owner.

Through regular communication and interaction with their owner, Moflin develops their own personality and will have a unique demeanour, appearing either energetic, shy, cheerful, or affectionate. By Day 50, Moflin’s development period fully forms as they become familiar with you, whilst their personality continues to grow.

Moflin Data Security and Privacy

Moflin does not have Wi-Fi, cellular, or direct internet access and cannot send or receive data on its own. Any online activity occurs only when you choose to upload data through the MofLife App, such as creating a Journal.

Does Moflin record or understand what I say?

Moflin does not listen, record or understand your conversations. It only detects voices and converts them into non-identifiable data, which is stored locally and used to recognise frequent speakers as their owners.

Is the voice element based on 'speaker' recognition, or 'speech' recognition?

Moflin uses speaker recognition, not speech recognition. Moflin converts the speaker's voice into digital patterns for identification and recognises who is speaking based on unique vocal characteristics. Moflin does not understand or process the actual content of what is being said.

What is the uploaded data used for?

Uploaded data is used to create a Journal in the Moflife App, support product servicing, improve quality, and help restore your Moflin if a fault occurs.

Is data from Moflin uploaded to a server?

Data is stored locally on Moflin and does not include personally identifiable information. Data is only uploaded to a secure server via the Moflife App if you choose to do so.

 

What level of encryption exists on the data?

Moflin device: Data itself is not encrypted, but can only be accessed through MofLife (smartphone app)

BLE communication: Encrypted using proprietary algorithm

Smartphone (Android/iOS): Data is stored in Android/iOS app-dedicated sandbox area, inaccessible from outside.

App/Server communication: Encrypted via HTTPS

Why does the app collect usage information?

The Moflife App uses uploaded data to create a Journal, support product servicing, improve quality, and help restore your Moflin if a fault occurs.

What should I do if my Moflin is unresponsive?

First try charging your Moflin, as the battery may be low. Also check whether they have been left in Deep Sleep Mode in the MofLife app settings, or if they have shut down to cool after becoming too warm.
