G-SHOCK x EVANGELION: Celebrating 30 Years of a Legendary Series G-SHOCK joins forces with EVANGELION — the ground-breaking anime with a devoted global fanbase — to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original TV broadcast. This limited-edition model is the work of Ikuto Yamashita, the visionary mechanical designer behind the EVANGELION series. Yamashita has created original artwork exclusively for this collaboration, channelling the energy and atmosphere of the iconic franchise. First airing in 1995, Neon Genesis Evangelion quickly became a cultural phenomenon in Japan. Its influence expanded globally with the Rebuild of Evangelion film series, starting in 2007 with Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone. The saga concluded with Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time in 2021, which drew over 6.7 million viewers and grossed 10.28 billion yen at the box office. The GA-110, also chosen for the very first EVANGELION collaboration back in 2010, serves as the base model. EVA Unit-01 takes centre stage across the design: its signature horned headgear appears on the short band, its face is featured on the bezel, and its arm gripping the Spear of Longinus extends dramatically from the lower bezel to the long band. Using advanced surface-finishing techniques, Casio has faithfully reproduced Yamashita’s intricate illustrations in every detail. Fans will spot even more nods to the series on the watch face. The inset dial indicator at 9 o’clock references the 3rd Angel, Sachiel, while a bold Y-shaped dial component recalls the CAUTION motif seen throughout the show. The band loop is marked with “NEON GENESIS,” the NERV logo appears at the tip of the band, and a special 30th anniversary emblem is engraved on the case back. Ikuto Yamashita is celebrated for his work as a mechanical designer on titles including Gunbuster, Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, and Evangelion. He also authored and illustrated the novel Evangelion ANIMA, and directed the short film Ikaroid Warzone as part of the “Japan Animator Expo.” Most recently, he contributed mechanical design for Mobile Suit Gundam G-QuuuuuuX. Delivered in exclusive packaging, this collaboration fuses G-SHOCK’s hallmark durability with the unforgettable world of EVANGELION — a must-have collector’s piece for fans everywhere. ©Khara
