MRG-B2000KT-3A
This product is excluded from voucher codes. Discover a new level of refinement with the limited-edition MRG-B2000KT a masterpiece distinguished by its striking engraving of the auspicious phoenix, captured mid-flight in exceptional detail by one of Japan’s leading metalsmiths. Long celebrated as a symbol of good fortune, virtue, joy, and longevity, the phoenix holds a cherished place in traditional Japanese craftsmanship, and its presence here sets the tone for a truly special timepiece. For this exclusive model, the bezel draws inspiration from the tsuba the iron guard of a Japanese sword. Its distinctive deep blue-green kurogane-iro finish, reminiscent of the hues iron takes on when heated, is achieved through a green DLC coating applied to titanium that has undergone a deep-layer hardening process. Expertly engraved by metalsmith KOBAYASHI Masao, the bezel’s phoenix motif makes a powerful visual statement. The dial ring features a gentle gradation that reflects the movement and elegance of the phoenix’s wings, while four emerald-set bezel screws represent wisdom and clear-sightedness. Together, these elements form one of the most luxurious and expressive designs ever seen in the MR-G collection. The case, with its distinctive crystallised pattern formed through the heating of pure titanium, evokes the shimmering nie patterns seen on traditional Japanese sword blades. Treated with the same deep-layer hardening process and finished in a copper-toned brown AIP coating, it offers both beauty and exceptional durability. The Clad Guard Structure provides robust protection for the crown and buttons, ensuring strength without compromising ease of use. A timepiece of this calibre calls for a band to match. The dark green Dura Soft rubber strap resists discolouration, staining, and ageing, while remaining soft and comfortable for all-day wear whether you’re on the move or simply enjoying the moment. Its titanium clasp, finished with deep-layer hardening and brown AIP coating, offers enhanced strength and consistency with the overall design. About Metalsmith KOBAYASHI Masao A third-generation craftsman based in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, KOBAYASHI Masao is renowned for his work in decorative metal arts. Trained in Kyoto engraving traditions, he contributes to everything from shrine and temple fixtures to the restoration of cultural treasures, tea ceremony implements, and contemporary metalwork. He is widely recognised as one of Japan’s foremost artisans. About the tsuba The tsuba is the metal guard positioned between the hilt and blade of a Japanese sword, designed to protect the hand. These pieces are often highly decorative and prized as works of art. The phoenix engraved for this timepiece draws inspiration from the tsuba of the MR-G katana, also crafted by KOBAYASHI Masao. About AIP coating AIP is an advanced surface treatment that instantly vaporises metal using arc-generated energy, creating a plasma state and ionising the elements that form the coating. Compared with standard ion plating, AIP produces films with superior adhesion and hardness. This technology enables the rich, distinctly Japanese colours for which the MR-G line is known, while offering a broad palette of striking variations.

FEATURES
The commanding presence of kurogane-iro, the dynamic energy of the phoenix
The specially commissioned bezel engraved with a phoenix design is crafted by metalsmith KOBAYASHI Masao, who also engraved the kurogane-tsuba iron guard of the MR-G katana. Evoking the iron guard of a Japanese sword, the bezel engraving incorporates a bold composition that depicts the phoenix’s head and tail separately on its left and right sides. Lines in bas-relief are created using the shishiai-bori technique. This depth, dimension, and bold composition make the auspicious phoenix in flight come to life, a majestic design further accentuated by the unique rock-grain relief pattern around the perimeter.
With his finely honed techniques and skillful eye, metalsmith KOBAYASHI crafts the phoenix engraving using nothing but a hammer and chisel, as only a true master craftsman can. Each individual bezel is painstakingly engraved by hand, no two alike, each truly one-of-a-kind.
The bezel, which serves as the surface for the engraving, is made of titanium. To achieve the rich, dark blue-green kurogane-iro hue that iron takes on when heated, a deep green DLC coating is applied to the titanium exterior. This traditional Japanese color, revered for its refined elegance, further enhances the commanding presence of the phoenix, so beautifully engraved by a master craftsman.

Adorned in the gorgeous colors of the auspicious phoenix
The phoenix — the legendary, mythological spirit animal depicted in traditional crafts and applied arts since ancient times — has long been revered as a symbol of good fortune, nobility, happiness, and longevity. The colorful MRG-B2000KT captures the brilliant plumage of this divine bird. The red-to-orange vapor-deposition gradation on the dial ring adds another gorgeous touch.
The four bezel screws are set with emeralds, a symbol of wisdom and the power to see the truth. These emerald green touches complement the deep blue-green kurogane-iro, creating an even deeper and more beautiful brilliance.
Uniquely striking pattern and color
The case is covered in a distinctive crystallized pattern that forms when heat is applied to pure titanium, reproducing the shimmering beauty of the crystalline nie patterns on a Japanese sword blade. Brown AIP coating also lends a coppery hue, evoking the material primarily used for Japanese sword mountings. Showcasing the MR-G commitment to meticulous detail, this timepiece embodies the marriage of iron and fire that gives form to the strength and beauty of Japanese swords. Finally, the case side is adorned at the 9 o’clock position with a metal plaque bearing the words “2025 LIMITED,” for a very special design worthy of a limited-edition timepiece.

AIP, a coating technology offering both meticulous reproduction of hues and superior hardness
AIP is a surface treatment technology that uses energy from arc discharges to vaporize metal materials instantaneously, turning them into a plasma state and ionizing the elements that form the coating. Compared to ordinary ion plating (IP), AIP enables the formation of films with greater adhesive properties and hardness. The most significant feature of AIP is its ability to vaporize materials in a flash, using intense energy to form uniform, beautiful coatings on a range of metal surfaces. The technology allows MR-G watches to deliver the unique Japanese hues the line is known for, and also supports a rich palette of color variations.
*AIP (arc ion plating) is a registered trademark of Kobe Steel, Ltd.
Ultra-precision machining forges exquisite dial design
This timepiece brings exceptionally detailed depth and dimension to traditional Japanese design. The dial features the arrow fletching pattern, a stylized symbol of a ceremonial arrow believed to ward off evil and ensure a prosperous future. Gently curved indexes with a fine grind-mark finish evoke the curvature of a sharp sword blade.
Components this detailed can only be produced with Yamagata Casio ultra-precision processing technology. Nano-level die molding is employed to create the fine details, including sharp edging and meticulous surface finish, worthy of MR-G timepieces.
