Butter and Grit

Butter & Grit is a Nashville-based genre-less duo and Top 5 America’s Got Talent Season 21 Quarterfinalist whose original music has charted across the U.S. and internationally.

Made up of Dove Award-winning, Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer, and powerhouse vocalist Laurel Taylor and soulful vocalist Luke Michael, the duo blends Southern storytelling with soul, country, gospel, blues, rock, and hip-hop influences to create a sound entirely their own.

In 2026, Butter & Grit introduced mi lions of viewers to their original music on America’s Got Talent, performing originals throughout their run. “God Knew” climbed into the Top 15 on U.S. iTunes Pop and Top 50 A l-Genre, while Quarterfinal song “That’s Okay” broke into the Top 55 U.S. A l-Genre and charted internationally.

Long before national television, Butter & Grit was taking original music into prisons, recovery centers, veteran communities, hospice, and other often-overlooked spaces. The stages are getting bigger, but the mission hasn’t changed.

For Butter & Grit, music has never just been about the stage. Their songs have taken them into prisons, recovery centers, VA facilities, hospice rooms, and other places where music can meet people right where they are. As that mission has grown alongside their career, the Casio Privia PX-S6000 has become part of the journey — traveling with them from some of the biggest stages they’ve played to some of the toughest places they’re invited into.
