Finding Balance Through Sound and Color: Mindful Moments with Privia
Situated in one of Tokyo’s quiet residential neighborhoods is a uniquely serene space filled with natural light that has been created by illustrator Yu Noguchi. The walls are lined with art supplies and sketchbooks which is a reflection of the creative world has been held dear by Yu since childhood.
Drawing has always been more than a pastime for Yu, it’s an essential part of daily life.
“Ever since I was little I’ve loved to draw. Once I start, I lose track of time and get completely absorbed in it,” she says with a smile.
Drawing is not just about creating images for Yu.
“When I draw, it feels like I’m connecting with myself. These moments bring me a lot of calm which is why it’s so important to me.”
What might look like simple concentration from afar is in fact part of a ritual habit for Yu that helps her restore balance.
Music has also played an important role in her life. Yu studied piano for many years and when she later felt the pull to return to the keyboard, she discovered Privia.
“The design instantly caught my eye the moment I saw it. I also loved the limited-edition nuance color at the time,” she recalls.
It wasn’t only the design that resonated with Yu, the philosophy behind it was also very appealing.
“The concept of bringing clarity of mind felt like such a natural fit for me.”
The sound and touch of Privia also impressed Yu.
“The tone and feel are just perfect. I used to own an acoustic piano and I was amazed at how accurately Privia recreates that familiar feeling of touch.”
The rhythm of her daily routine has shifted since including Privia into her home.
“Instead of spending time scrolling on my phone, I find myself sitting at the piano more and more,” she says.
These days both drawing and playing the piano have become essential parts of her daily well-being.
“Drawing, playing piano and finding clarity of mind through these quiet moments has become an essential part of my routine now.”
