Gabriel Kei is based in Paris and works as an actor. In recent years, he has also begun exploring film direction. Gabriel values freedom and creativity above all else, which allows artistic expression to naturally flow as part of his everyday life. “I was born in Paris and come from a mix of different backgrounds. Because I’m a freelancer I spend most of my time working from home,” he says.
When working on a film project he often moves from place to place depending on the needs of the shoot, however most of his creative work takes place at home. “I think it’s important to live in a place that truly suits you and makes you comfortable, so that is fosters and nurtures creativity. Whether I’m working or relaxing, I need a place where I can simply be myself,” he explains.
Music is an inseparable part of Gabriel’s life. “I believe all forms of art are connected, whether it’s film, literature or music. As an artist, you have to draw inspiration from everything around you.”
Having previously played guitar in a rock band, Gabriel has recently taken up the piano. “Instruments are like another form of communication and expression. When I play the piano, it feels like I’m having a quiet conversation with my own inner monologue.”
