Special-edition collaboration timepiece commemorating the 60th anniversary of Honda’s first F1 victory

In October 1965, Honda achieved its historic first F1 win at the Mexican Grand Prix with the RA272. To celebrate the 60th anniversary, this special-edition collaboration timepiece, the ECB-2300HR, honors that first F1 winning car. Honda built a legacy of triumph on the F1 stage, the pinnacle of motorsport, and this timepiece carries the victory message from that first win. Thanks to extensive interviews and research on the actual car, authentic colors and details have been carefully re-created. This watch is filled with the racing spirit that defines Honda.

60 years since Honda’s first F1 victory

The year 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of Honda’s first F1 victory. On October 24, 1965, in the season’s final round at the Mexican Grand Prix, the RA272 — a car entirely developed by Honda, with both engine and chassis built in-house — took the checkered flag. Since that historic day, Honda has earned six Constructors’ titles and produced four world champions. With an exceptional racing spirit, the name Honda has been firmly engraved in the annals of F1 history.

Authentic Championship White applied to the bezel ring for the first time

The body of the RA272, the first F1 winning car by Honda, was painted in Championship White, a traditional color that continues to symbolize the Honda racing spirit. This same authentic paint has been applied to the bezel ring. After ensuring strong adhesion of the paint to the base layer, a topcoat is added to create the distinctive ivory tone and a glossy finish reminiscent of the car itself, offering a tangible connection to the original car. The number “60” is engraved in gold tones at the 60-minute mark to commemorate the anniversary of the first F1 victory.

Hinomaru design evoking the RA272 body

Against the predominantly white appearance, a vivid red circle around the outer edge of the dial creates a striking presence. This symbolic color scheme, highlighting the contrast of white and red, expresses the Hinomaru design painted on the body of the RA272.

The victory message sent from the venue to headquarters — Veni, Vidi, Vici. (“I came, I saw, I conquered”) — is engraved together with the car number “11” on the gold-colored metal band loop.

1.5-liter V12 engine: A pinnacle of Honda technology

The watch band features an engraved blueprint of Honda’s pioneering 1.5‑liter V12 engine — a tribute to the bold, unconventional choice of a 12-cylinder layout at the time. This remarkable engine represented an integration of Honda’s advanced motorcycle technology and innovative thinking, applying 125cc-per-cylinder performance to the realm of four-wheel drives. The band pairs Nappa leather on the outer surface with Ultrasuede on the lining.

The tachometer, which stood out at the center of the RA272 instrument panel, is rendered in the 9 o’clock inset dial and serves as a countdown timer. The design reflects the atmosphere of the original, with careful attention to the color and shape of the analog hand, the font of the scale markings, and the red line indicating the red zone.
