GXFAB TIMELESS REAL BLACK

#02 GXFAB

G-SHOCK overturned the common notion that "wristwatches are fragile and easily broken by shocks," continuously pursuing quality and technology.

Based on this development philosophy, the fabric "GXFAB" was born, breaking the conventional belief that "black fabric fades," aiming for the ultimate black that does not fade.
We offer tough wear that is resistant to chemicals and sunlight.

Your answers will help us shape the future of the GXFAB.

Feature 1

TIMELESS REAL BLACK

Black that is highly resistant to fading.

Ordinary black clothes inevitably fade or lose color when exposed to sunlight or bleach. However, "GXFAB" maintains its black color even when exposed to such environments.

Unlike gener+E13:E16al fabrics that use dyed yarns, this "GXFAB" uses solution-dyed yarns that mix pigment from the raw material stage, giving it a very strong resistance to fading.
Because it does not undergo dyeing, it uses less water and CO2 emissions, making it an environmentally friendly material.

Chemical Resistance

In chemical resistance tests, "GXFAB" was checked for color changes after soaking in undiluted chlorine bleach for a certain period.

Test Results: Significant changes were observed in Fabric A.
Comparison fabrics were selected based on our internal standards.
Fabric A: Dyed cotton
Fabric B: Dyed polyester

Lightfastness

The lightfastness test reproduced an environment where the fabric was exposed to sunlight for a long time using a testing machine.
Color changes were confirmed only after exposure equivalent to 10 years of sunlight.*

*Based on our internal conversion standards.

Feature 2

COMMITMENT TO TOUGHNESS

We developed durable fabric with particular attention at the yarn stage. The reliability of the fabric has been confirmed through various strength tests.
Thus, we adopted 20-count double yarn.
By twisting two yarns together, we increased strength and ended with a fabric thickness equivalent to 10.2 ounces, making it sturdy.

This is a photograph of black thread and fabric.

Strength Evaluation Tests

1. Abrasion Resistance

Using our original abrasion test machine, we applied load to the fabric and checked its condition after testing.

2. Stretch Resistance

We conducted a unique washing test based on the household washing machine method (JIS L 1930) to confirm any dimensional change rate after the test.

3. Neck Durability

A durability test simulating actual wearing and removal was conducted on a jig of set size cylindrical shape based on adult male head circumference data. The change rate before and after the test was confirmed to be below the threshold.

Feature 3

UNIQUE QUALITY STANDARDS

We proudly introduce "GXFAB" only after clearing all our strict quality standards, ensuring a long-lasting product.

For GXFAB

By opening test comments with ""Confirmed"" it immediately seems like some change was noted. This almost comes across a negative result.

METICULOUS DETAIL

A photo of Neckline.

1. Neckline
To reduce neck stretching, we adopted taco binders as reinforcements from both shoulders to the neckline.
Also, the rib width is set wider than usual at 30mm, further strengthening the neckline.

2. Comfort
By applying special processing to the yarn, we achieved a cotton-like texture and comfort.

Double stitching is used at key points such as the neck, sleeves, and hem to improve durability.

R&D TEAM

A special development team was launched to explore new possibilities for the G-SHOCK brand.
Lead by fashion director Sotai Yamaguchi, we are working on innovative product development centered on the philosophy of the G-SHOCK brand.
After more than two years of meticulous trial and error, we were able to complete the fabric ""GXFAB.""
We will continue to develop ""GXFAB"" further and evolve it in the future.
