Drawing on international metal leaf artist Hiroto Rakusho’s distinctive metal leaf artistry in Haruka, his original artwork specially created for the MR-G celebration, the MRG-B2100HS brings to life the timeless strength and beauty at the heart of MR-G. The latticework dial is hand-finished in gold leaf by Rakusho himself using traditional metal leaf techniques. The enduring brilliance of the gold leaf, born of time-honored craftsmanship, symbolizes the unwavering spirit of MR-G. Rakusho’s intricate work delivers the shimmer of powdered metal leaf and blurring of dark and light tones with a lavish splendor that only the most skilled and sensitive metal leaf artist can bring to life. This truly unique watch radiates the singular brilliance of a one-of-a-kind handmade piece. For the COBARION bezel and titanium bracelet, a unique structural color technique is employed to create a foil stamped texture that exudes the shimmering world of Rakusho’s artwork. An ultrashort-pulse laser forms microscopic textures on the bezel and bracelet surfaces to create a rainbow of color that shifts depending on the viewing angle. The beauty of this ever-changing color shows the determined spirit that will pave the way for the future. The case back of this limited-edition timepiece is engraved with the “MR-G 30TH” logo and a serial number. Each comes in a specially commissioned box, individually gilded with gold leaf and signed by Rakusho. Use the included stand to hold the box lid open like a folding screen to display the watch and box together as a single work of art. Metal leaf artist Hiroto Rakusho Born in 1962 in Nishijin, Kyoto, Rakusho studied traditional metal leaf techniques under his father, Jisaku Nishiyama, winner of the Kyoto City Award for Outstanding Technical Contribution to Traditional Handicrafts. In 2002, he established his own Hiroto Rakusho brand. In addition to numerous original works created with his unique techniques, he has also collaborated with designers and artists of various genres. He is engaged in a wide range of activities in Japan and around the world, including working with the Digital Archive Project to preserve cultural artifacts. Moving beyond the traditional aesthetic of metal leaf work cultivated for Nishijin weaving, Rakusho continues to create new forms of expression through this traditional art.
