Celebrating 20 Years of Privia in Hamburg A Collaboration with Rolling Stone Germany

Hamburg is located along the Elbe River in the north of Germany about 100 kilometers from the North Sea. Hamburg has a thriving music scene where history and modernity coexist, and is well known as the city that helped shape The Beatles during their formative years. This vibrant city played host to the “Privia 20th Anniversary Showcase in Germany” on the 29th of October which was organized in conjunction with Rolling Stone Germany. The event was held at the stunning Penthouse Elbe Panorama, which overlooks Hamburg’s bustling port which is one of the largest in Europe.

Key speakers at the event included Kazuyuki Yamashita, President of Casio Europe, and Yosuke Nagayama, Senior General Manager of Casio’s Design and Development Division. The two of them shared their insights into the evolution of Privia and they were joined by pianist and Privia Global Ambassador Hayato Sumino (known as Cateen), as well as our European artists Levi Schechtmann and Imelda Gabs, who brought some added energy and excitement to the evening.

The Penthouse Elbe Panorama is characterized by expansive windows that stretch from the floor to the ceiling and offer a stunning view of Hamburg’s city lights, to leave audiences captivated. The modern, yet warm atmosphere of the venue was complemented by the sleek Harmonious Mustard color finish of the Privia PX-S7000 which blended seamlessly into the surroundings. During the event, Nagayama shared the story behind the design of Privia, which struck a chord with many in attendance thanks to its thoughtful and innovative concept.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the musical performances by the featured artists. Levi Schechtmann is known for blending hip-hop with electro beats and delivered a dynamic and genre-defying set. This was followed by Imelda Gabs who is both a pianist and producer, and she performed some of her original compositions which combines the rich tones of the piano with darker elements from the cinematic world.

Hayato Sumino closed the evening with an incredible improvised performance as a special treat for the audience. “What I love about Privia is its ability to produce such a wide range of sounds, paired with the portability that means you can perform anywhere,” Sumino shared, who also mentioned how he frequently uses Privia during his live-streamed concerts. The capabilities of the PX-S7000 were fully demonstrated at the venue, thanks to its advanced acoustic optimization and immersive sound system which filled the space with rich, resonant tones.

“Privia’s versatility and stylish design means that it can naturally fit into a variety of settings,” Sumino added, echoing the sentiments of everyone in attendance at this memorable celebration of Privia’s 20-year journey.
